Deck Logs

We are currently in contact with the US Navy in an attempt to acquire copies of all the Deck Logs for the entire time that the USS Duluth LPD-6 was in commission.   This is quite an undertaking and will take an extended amount of time to complete this project.

We expect to receive digital copies of the deck logs in random emails from the National Archives.   The following is what we have received so far.

Some members from the USS Frank E. Evans (DD-754), that were stationed on board when that ship was in a collision with the HMAS Melbourne (R 21) at 3:15 am on June 3, 1969 in the South China Sea east of the Mekong Delta of South Viet Nam, with the loss of 74 shipmates from the crew of 273.   They had requested copies of the Deck Logs from the USS Duluth prior to that collision.

The Evans was refueled by the Duluth on May 13, 1939, twenty-two days prior to the collision.   All their Deck Logs went down with the bow portion of the ship.

Jboy Shepard received copies of the USS Duluth Deck Logs from May 13-16, 1969 in December 2016.

Copies of those Deck Logs are linked below:
